Books 'n' Bubbles Bus
free onboard early learning and literacy activities for kids 0-5 and their caregivers

The Books 'n' Bubble Bus is an "equal access to opportunity" program delivering early learning and literacy programs outlying areas and communities where programs are limited for this target age.  This free drop in program is designed for children 0 to 5 years old and their parents or caregivers.  The bus, modeled after Parksville's WOW Bus, is a 41 foot Bluebird school bus renovated to accommodate onboard literacy and learning activities.

The Books 'n' Bubbles Bus visits the locations below once each week during the school year. Come Aboard! and let's create the best learning environment possible for you and your child.  Remember, no bus when schools are closed.

Monday         Crofton                                             11:00 to 2:00
Tuesday         Penelakut Isl. First Nations                  9:45 to 12:45
Wednesday    Malahat First Nations                         10:00 to 1:00
Thursdays      St. Andrews Church (531 Herbert St.)    9:30 to 12:30
Fridays          Saywell Park, Lake Cowichan              9:00 to 12:00

The bus has a built in resource area, kid size tables and chairs, a food prep area with a fridge and sink, cupboards loaded with supplies, and a cozy reading area at the back.  The Strong Start BC Outreach program onboard includes storytelling, songs, rhymes, bubbles, wee hand crafts, and free clothing and diapers.

Funding by Aboriginal Success by 6 and the continued support of Ada Mawson, Aboriginal Success by 6 Coordinator, has provided the resources to bridge cultural boundaries and bring the bus experience to little people living on Penelakut Island, Cowichan Tribes, Halalt First Nations, Malahat First Nations, and Stz'uminus First Nations.
